Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny will headline next year’s Super Bowl halftime show. On one of the world’s most-watched stages, this decision signals a powerful shift: you don’t have to switch to English to reach a global audience. Bad Bunny has built his career on staying true to his language, culture, and roots, and now that authenticity will be broadcast to millions of viewers across the United States and beyond.

The significance of this moment goes far beyond music. For Latinos in the U.S. and worldwide, seeing a Puerto Rican artist represent their culture at such a massive cultural event is an act of validation. Bad Bunny has never shied away from celebrating his heritage, infusing reggaetón, trap, salsa, and even folkloric sounds into his work. By bringing Spanish lyrics and Puerto Rican identity to the center of America’s biggest sporting event, he’s showing younger generations of Spanish-speaking fans that their language and culture belong on the main stage, not just the margins.

This performance is more than entertainment—it’s a cultural milestone. It reflects how Latin music has evolved from being treated as a niche genre to becoming one of the driving forces of global pop. Even for audiences who don’t understand Spanish, the energy, rhythm, and storytelling in Bad Bunny’s music transcend language barriers. His halftime show is poised to be a celebration not only of his artistry, but also of the communities and histories that shaped him. It’s a reminder that representation matters, and in 2026, Spanish will proudly take the spotlight at the Super Bowl.

In the words of Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself, it’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown... this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

The Super Bowl will be broadcast Feb. 8 live on NBC, and will be the seventh year that the halftime show will be programmed by Roc Nation, which is executive producing the show alongside Jesse Collins, produced by DPS and directed by Hamish Hamilton; Roc also serves as strategic entertainment advisor for the show. It’s also the fourth year that Apple Music will be the presenting sponsor, having first taken over in 2023 for Rihanna’s performance in Phoenix.
